This is the first post on my new blog, which is not really new, because I have reconfigured myself and this blog maybe seven or eight times already over the years. I know that is not supportive of the idea of continuity, but I really don’t care. I deal with the world in my own way, not in the way the technocrat corporate algorithm thinks I should, so it is what it is.
I have been blogging intermittently since about 2005, and I have respect for the medium, because without it, I would not have become what I am now, which is a senior journalist, editor, and pundit anchored on The Manila Times. If you think I am gilding my own lily, just look me up on Google.
The impetus for restarting this blog (by my count, this is at least the 9th time) this time, if I’m being completely being honest, is because for this year, I have a goal of starting a podcast. That requires a website anchor, so here we are. And even if it takes me a while to get the podcast up and running, I’m okay with that: I am at heart a writer, this is fine for now, and maybe forever.
If all goes well, over the next weeks and months I will be adding more interesting content here, including the aforementioned podcast, some exclusive merchandise (if anyone says the word “merch” in my presence, I will straight-up stab you), and other interesting material, including some reposts of the better material from my past blogs, including the old Weather on Neptune site, and the first version of the Bad Manners Gun Club blog.
